Project management and company process structure

Generally speaking, all the companies are trying to collect the requirements from the customer and selling their products, including specific services and products to the target customers. Some of the entities are more production focused, while others are more development oriented. However, the project management way are implemented in the company operations.

The structure and process, shown in the below picture, are designed to support the business and strategy of the company. Each process below can be designed and run in project management way and thinking.

 

 

Process should be managed within the organization by QA or some other operational team, who have a good understanding on the strategy and information flow in the company. Normally, when the QA collect the requirements to initialize or optimize a process, he will go to the business department to collect the requirement with the aim of optimizing the process efficiency to improve the operation of the organization. This topic is more or less related to the process optimization, and we will discuss further in other articles in future.

Take the product development process for instance, it display all the information and activities of the product/service development in the organization. Each role in the project will responsible one task that can be breakdown from the top level. But the whole thinking behind this is the Project management way and thinking.

CDCP: concept decision check point

PDCP: planning decision check point

ADCP: availability decision check point

LDCP: Launch decision check point

 

The thinking behind this is the customer-oriented view with integrated product development process. For each process in the many sub roles, it should be structured designed level, which can be demonstrated in the following structure.

 

A simple chart shows the thinking of the project management way in this area to:

1.       Set up cross department team and monitor and control the project operations

2.       Set up the guideline for the product development review and technical review

3.       Confirm the input and output criteria of each phase.

4.       Implement the international project management system.
